Steven Avery’s ex, Jodi, just said she thinks he’s actually guilty
Jodi Stachowski, Steven Avery’s ex-fiancée who fiercely defended his innocence throughout the Making a Murderer series, now claims he is a “monster” and “not innocent.”
In a shocking interview with Nancy Grace producer, Natisha Lance, Stachowski claimed that the loyal and loving persona she put on in the series was a facade to keep Steven from hurting her. When Lance confronted her about staying in a relationship with Avery for two years, Stachowski quickly fired back, saying, “I ate two boxes of rat poison just so I could go the hospital … and get away from him, and ask them to get the police to help me”.
Stachowski, who was in prison at the time of Teresa Halbach’s murder, claimed that Steven Avery gave her directions to “make him look good” throughout the series. When filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos requested to do a follow-up interview last year, Stachowski declined and reportedly asked not to be featured in the docuseries at all.
This is the first time Stachowski has publicly commented on the case and the documentary. When asked why she was choosing to speak out 10 years after the case and weeks after the series debut, Stachowski responded, “The truth. What a monster he is. And he’s not innocent.”
