Steve Irwin’s father just shared a letter his son wrote and now we’re completely heartbroken
The legendary conservationist Steve Irwin continues to live on after his untimely death. A tear–jerking letter written by the then 32-year-old “Crocodile Hunter” was discovered and shared by Steve’s father, Bob Irwin. The conservationist’s famous father discovered the letter when it fell out of a book he opened while researching his upcoming memoir, The Last Crocodile Hunter: A Father and Son Legacy.
He revealed there was a short but sweet message on the letter’s envelope that read, “Please be happy to know that your strength and wisdom have been passed on.”
As the wildlife conservationist’s family prepares to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Steve’s passing, this heartwarming note gives the family insight into the TV personality’s happiness. In the letter, Steve reflects on the life lessons his parents taught him and the joy his parents brought him. The note will of course be included in Bob’s book.
“Probably one of the most unfortunate things in a ‘Bloke’s Life’ is that it takes over 30 years to realise how essential you have been to build my character, my ethics and, most importantly, my HAPPINESS,” the Crocodile Hunter wrote.
He added, “At 32, I am finally starting to figure it out. In good times and in bad, you were there. Your strength and endurance to raise me will not go unrewarded. My love for you is my strength!”
Steve concludes his touching note with a heartwarming message that will make you feel so inspired to tell your parents you love them ASAP.
“For the rest of my life I will reflect on the unbelievably GREAT times we’ve shared and will continue to share. You’re my best friends!”
The Last Crocodile Hunter: A Father and Son Legacy is scheduled to hit book shelves in October.
Steve was tragically killed by a stingray accident in September 2006. This Sunday will mark the ten year anniversary of his passing. The Aussie native left behind his two kids, Bindi and Robert, and his wife Terri.
