Stella McCartney’s Olympics uniforms for Great Britain are impossibly cool and we kinda want one
If your evenings are normally reserved for a Netflix and chill sesh, here’s a good reason to switch up your routine this month (we promise it’s only temporary). The 2016 Rio Olympic Games have kicked off, so how could you not watch? There’s so much to dig into (like, you know, the actual events), but we’re particularly pumped to see Stella McCartney’s Olympic uniforms for Great Britain in motion.
The fashion designer collaborated with Adidas to create a collection of uniforms and needless to say, they are totally chic. Each uniform bears a custom-designed coat of arms by the College of Arms that nicely accents McCartney’s fashion-turned-fitness aesthetic. The female athletes will wear a navy blue dress crafted from high-performance fabric beneath a tailored white jacket. false
The male athletes will sport navy peacoats, blue shirts and white shorts.

“The goal for Rio 2016 was to rewrite the rules of performance and design for athletes, allowing them to look and feel like champions on and off the field,” McCartney said. She added, “The inspiration behind the design was this idea of contrasting British tradition with a modern attitude.”
Love it! These uniforms are giving us all types of athleisure inspo. But this isn’t the first time we’ve wanted McCartney’s Olympic designs hanging in our closets. As Adidas’ creative director, she also designed the team’s 2012 uniforms.
Witnessing the world’s most elite athletes compete on behalf of their respective countries doesn’t sound like the most fashionable event, but McCartney’s designs should definitely make the Great Britain team feel like they’re working the runway.
