So here’s who we’ll be watching after the State of the Union

On January 22, two days after President Obama delivers his sixth State of the Union address, he’ll air an interview with some of YouTube’s most popular bloggers. The President being interviewed by young (mostly tween followed) bloggers? That’s kind of groundbreaking.

Hank Green, Bethany Mota, and GloZell Green will all have a chance to ask the President about his fourth quarter agenda, with each vlogger getting exactly 10 minutes to ask the President questions. Why is the President doing this, pray tell? Well, to reach younger Americans obvi! Which is actually a mighty-good plan.

As for who these YouTube-ers are, they’re pretty impressive in their own right. Between all three of them, they have more than 13.7 million subscribers. Hank Green is the head of the YouTube channel Vlogbrothers, where he uploads videos with his brother John Green. (Yes, the author of The Fault in Our Stars, John Green.) “Does this terrify me? Yes,” Green wrote in response to the interview news. “But it’s not the kind of thing you say ‘no’ to . . . I don’t think it’s a secret that I like Obama more than I liked Bush, but I’ve also obviously got my issues, and I’m a little worried that I’ll nonetheless get up there and be like, ‘Hey! You’ve got REAL NICE TEETH, SIR!’”

Bethany Mota, the 19-year-old YouTube celebrity and fashion vlogger, already knows what she wants to ask the President about. “My subscribers want to know about education,” she said in the promotional spot.

And as for GloZell Green, the comedian who goes by “Queen of YouTube”? Here’s how she reacted to the news:

We’re 100% looking forward to the interviews and for seeing just what kind of questions these youth-reps of America ask POTUS. It’ll also be fun to see how President Obama handles the slightly-different format. Though if his epic “Between Two Ferns” interview is any indicator, he’ll be just fine.
