Starbucks will start serving ice cream — BRB changing our usual order

If you’re feeling gloomy about the state of the world, here’s some news that will cheer you up in a heartbeat — Starbucks is about to start serving ice cream. Yes, you read that correctly and this is not a drill — in fact, the new treat will be served at 100 stores across the country starting this week.

If you live in Los Angeles, Boston, or Washington, D.C., a fancy version of affogato is coming to a Starbucks Reserve bar near you. Meanwhile, the lucky folks in Orange County will get a cheaper version at 100 regular Starbucks stores.

As for the rest of us? We’ll stare longingly at your Instagram photos until we’re blessed with affogato at our local Starbucks.

Don’t worry about us — seriously. (*Sobs silently*)

Affogato is a traditional Italian dessert that consists of a scoop of ice cream topped off with an espresso shot.

But wait, there’s more — Starbucks will offer variations including a cold brew ice cream float and the Shakerato Affogato. The latter is seriously fancy and will include shaken espresso, vanilla syrup, and a mint sprig. Be still, our hearts.

The treat is inspired by the success of affogato-style caramel, mocha, and vanilla bean flavored Frappuccinos that were added to the menu last year. The natural next step is, of course, ice cream.

The ice cream roll-out is limited, but fingers and toes crossed that we’ll all be blessed with affogato at our local Starbucks sooner rather than later.
