Starbucks’s Strawberry Very Much Frappuccino sounds like a booze-free daiquiri, and YUM

If Pumpkin Spice Lattes are the unofficial taste of fall, then is Starbucks’s Strawberry Very Much Frappuccino the new drink for spring? Starbucks’s new Strawberry Very Much Frappuccino is a sticky, sweet strawberry delight currently available in Starbucks stores in Japan through the end of May 2018. Doesn’t it feel like Japan always has the best Starbucks drinks, while the U.S. is stuck with super millennial creations like the Crystal Ball Frappuccino (okay, just kidding, that one was awesome, too).

So what is the Strawberry Very Much Frappuccino?

The drink starts with a strawberry Frappuccino base with added strawberry juice, topped with strawberry whip cream and a light dusting of strawberry powder — or, as it’s more colloquially described, a “frappuccino made from strawberries, from top to bottom.” While it does have that Frappuccino base, it’s unclear what the caffeine content is in the drink. Fans of the drink have described the taste as sweet and sour. Unlike the Strawberries & Crème Frappuccino Blended Crème we have here stateside, this one seems more fruity and less milky — almost like a booze-free daiquiri.

We’re sure that the Strawberry Very Much Frappuccino will become one of those drinks that teens gravitate toward because the youth love a fruity frapp. Judging by photos of the drink on Instagram, Japan’s high school kids have already flocked to the tangy sweet drink.

For now, all we can do is ogle this Frappuccino online, because it’s rare that a drink found exclusively in Japan ever makes its way stateside. Just like the millennial pink latte and the Butterfly Pea Flower Lemonade Cold Brew, this is as close as we’re going to get to the decadent drink (for now).
