Starbucks’ new breakfast menu item is extra fancy

Gluten-free friends: We have some news we think you’re gonna like, and it’s all thanks to Starbucks. The coffee giant is adding a new breakfast menu item, and it’s not only gluten-free, but it’s hands-down the fanciest item they’ve added yet. Yum!

It wouldn’t be a new year without somethin’ new from Starbucks, and their new breakfast offering sounds like something straight out of a chic Parisian cafe. Along with the introduction of their new Cascara Latte drink, and the relaunch of the popular Smoked Butterscotch Latte drink, you can now get your hands on the new Sous Vide Egg Bites. La dee dah.

Available on January 10th, these egg bites are equal parts adorable and fancy. Unsure of what “sous vide” actually means? According to Starbucks, it means “under vacuum” in French, and it’s “a culinary technique where vacuum-sealed food is immersed in water and cooked at a very precise and consistent temperature. This cooking method is preferred because it doesn’t require extra fats and oils.”

Starbucks worked for months on perfecting the technique, and their brand manager Eveline Chao-Rivera said, “Time and time again, we learned that customers were ordering our breakfast sandwiches without the bread or requesting more vegetarian options. We knew that we had a very specific need to satisfy.”

The Sous Vide Egg Bites come in two flavors: Bacon & Gruyere, which includes Gruyere and Monterey Jack cheese, topped with a layer of bacon. Or there’s the Egg White & Roasted Red Pepper, which features cage-free egg whites with Monterey Jack and cottage cheese, spinach and fire-roasted red pepper.

Is it breakfast yet?!
