Starbucks finally made the Mermaid Frappuccino official, but it’s only available in Mexico
Between limited edition drinks and secret menu items, the Starbucks menu always keeps us on our toes. Remember the rumored Starbucks Mermaid Frappuccino? We have some amazing news: It’s officially real! Yup, that’s right. After months of murmurings about whether the Mermaid Frappuccino would hit Starbucks stores or not, it’s finally here.
But before you bust out your wallets and head to the nearest ‘Bucks, there’s a catch. The funky new Frappuccino is only being offered in Mexico. According to Starbucks, the reason is because the ingredients needed to make the drink aren’t available in its U.S. stores.
And for those of you looking to book a flight immediately, we’re sad to inform you that just like the Unicorn Frappuccino, it will only be sold for one week.
We’re trying our best not to be too bummed, but look at this!
It’s just SO beautiful.
The green melon créme frappuccino includes blue vanilla whipped cream, edible pearls and blue and pink sugar crystals.
The drink was the brainchild of Jocelyn Freeman, the creator of the blog The Modern Barista, who debuted a slightly different version in the past. However, once Starbucks enthusiasts caught wind of the drink, some attempted to use her recipe to make customized drinks.
Needless to say, they didn’t turn out as dazzling as the current version.
Thanks to social media, we can still live vicariously through our friends in Mexico who snagged the drink already.
Check out this glitz. That pearl detail, though.
The baristas even label the drinks as “Mermaid.” We’re OBSESSED. Do you think we could get that to catch on in the states, for all coffee orders?

Hmm. Maybe we will use our savings for a last minute trip to Mexico after all. Who knows when we’ll have this opportunity again?
