The new Starbucks fall cups were made to be Instagrammed
Once upon a time, coffee cups were just that. Cups. Years ago, coffee companies only had to make their coffee taste good, but in this post-Instagram #NeedMyMorningJava world we live in, the coffee cup is almost as (if not more) important than the liquid inside. Starbucks seems to be especially well-aware that a perfectly lit and filtered photo of your morning cup of joe is Instagram virality 101.
In honor of the first day of fall (September 22), Starbucks has unveiled minimal, chic, and DIY fall coffee cups for the changing season.
Per a Starbucks press release:
"With the arrival of fall, the company is bringing back a limited run of colorful cups, this time with jewel-tones of plum, teal and orange celebrating the fun and vibrancy of the season. Available in the U.S. and Canada for a limited time, each tall, grande and venti size gets its own vibrant color with white dots and hand-drawn designs including a pie, an owl and of course, a pumpkin."
The cups come with a pumpkin, owl, or pie illustration where the traditional Starbucks siren would be. On some cups the logo is left blank for you to DIY your own sketch. Part of the fun is wondering whether you’re going to get the cup with the illustration or be handed a blank slate.
The cups were designed after the success of the similarly minimal spring cups.
Have you had your morning (slash 1 p.m. slash 4 p.m.) cup of joe yet?
