You can now order from Starbucks on your phone. Goodbye lines, hello life.
When you think of “the dream” do you think about not having to wait in a ridiculously long line at Starbucks to get your morning coffee? That’s the dream to many who encounter that wait every single morning. But now, Starbucks wants to help us make that dream of ours come true, which is why they’re rolling out a mobile ordering service. So, you download an app, pay ahead of time, show up at your local Starbucks, and grab your good-to-go coffee. No waiting required.
Through the Starbucks app on your phone (for both iOS and Androids), you can now use the Mobile Order & Pay feature, which is exactly what it sounds like. This new feature has been slowly rolling out across the Pacific Northwest with great success, so now it’s time to take it nationwide.
As Starbucks explains in a press release, “The Mobile Order & Pay feature allows customers to choose a store from a map view, browse, select and customize beverage and food items, view the estimated time frame the order will be ready, and pre-pay for the order — all within the Starbucks Mobile App.”
Calling it the “future of retail,” Adam Brotman, Starbucks chief digital officer explained that, “Bringing Mobile Order and Pay to our customers is about meeting their needs of convenience and customization at any time of the day.”
It’s also ridiculously easy to use. Make sure your location settings are on, so you can find the Starbucks nearest you offering the Mobile Order and Pay. Then, place your order. You’ve got the full Starbucks menu at your fingertips, and can even customize your drink however you like it. Want to add flavor shots? Espresso? Extra ice? Chocolate powder on top? You can do all of that.
The app will also give you the time frame for when it will be ready, anywhere from 2-12 minutes, depending on your drink. That’s not bad, considering that sometimes you could wait 12 minutes in line just to place your order.
So welcome to the future, everyone. It’s finally arrived. But now I’ve got to go, because my drink is waiting for me.
