We need to talk about the best part of the “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” trailer — the porg

If you’re anything like us, you’re still freaking out about the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer, which debuted last night. And you’re still freaking out about one ridiculously cute part of that The Last Jedi trailer in particular…

The part when a porg starts squealing!!!

Now, some of you may me wondering: What exactly are porgs? Well, they’re wide-eyed potato-penguin looking creatures that are new to the Star Wars universe and are native to the planet Ahch-to, where Rey found Luke at the end of The Force Awakens.

The Last Jedi writer-director Rian Johnson told Entertainment Weekly that he included porgs in the film to keep the Jedi company, and that he found the inspiration for the creatures while visiting the Irish island of Skelling Michael. (That’s where the end of Episode VII was filmed.)

“If you go to Skellig at the right time of year, it’s just covered in puffins, and they’re the most adorable things in the world, Johnson tells EW. “So when I was first scouting there, I saw these guys, and I was like, oh, these are part of the island. And so the Porgs are in that realm.

Back to the trailer, we see the porg with Chewbacca.

The pair appear to be on the Millennium Falcon and on the run. Soon, Chewie growls and the porg squawks — perhaps with alarm about the threat they’re facing? If anything happens to either Chewie or the porg — which may just be the cutest Star Wars creature ever — we will actually lose it.

And we’re not alone in that. Twitter had a lot — and I mean A LOT — of feels too.
