There might be a hidden Darth Vader in the new “Last Jedi” poster, and we’re going to need a minute
Last night, the latest and (potentially) final trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released, and it’s safe to say the internet exploded while trying to analyze every frame for hidden messages — and channeling its inner Admiral Ackbar to figure out if, in fact, the whole trailer is a trap.
But the two-and-a-half-minute trailer wasn’t the only Last Jedi gift from Lucasfilm and Disney to Star Wars fans.
Just a few hours before the trailer’s release during Monday Night Football, the official Star Wars social media channels released a dashing new poster featuring all your Resistance and First Order faves:

Yep, this poster has almost every Star Wars being you care about — minus the porg and Laura Dern, because Lucasfilm is trying to keep her hidden for some ghastly reason.
The poster shows our favorite characters split between the Resistance and the First Order with Poe oddly wedged between General Hux and Captain Phasma. Naturally, Luke and Leia — the children of OG Jedi-turned-bad boy, Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader — take up the center, as they’re still at the center of the fight between good and evil.
But this *is* Star Wars we’re talking about so, of course, it’d be fitting for a message to be hidden in the poster:

Yes, it seems the positioning of the characters make up Darth Vader’s face mask…and OMG WHAT NOW?
We already know that Kylo Ren has an obsession with his late, great (but in a dark way), sand-hating grandfather, and he even cherishes Vader’s melted face mask as one of his prized possessions. But does this mean we’ll be seeing an even more ominous homage to the fallen Sith Lord? From the trailer, it seems Kylo finds himself near a bit of fire — or dare I say, a lava-producing planet like Mustafar, where Anakin and Obi-Wan had that duel!
But, honestly, this could be another classic case of overanalyzing non-existent clues. Until December 15th, we’ll be warping our brains trying to find answers to the million questions we currently have about The Last Jedi.
