“Star Wars” *could* pull an “American Horror Story” and not release ANY trailers for “Episode VIII”
When it comes to Star Wars, we want to know everything about it all the time, and no detail is too small (or even, too big) for us to obsess over. With the upcoming release of the still-untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII (in a short 366 days), we know the general story will follow the ongoing adventures of Rey, Finn, Poe, Luke and Leia in that galaxy far, far away, but we don’t know much more.
Remember how this past summer, American Horror Story decided not to release any sort of promotional material before Season 6 hit our television sets? On one hand, it was fun and exciting trying to figure out what was, and wasn’t real! On the other hand it drove ME ABSOLUTELY INSANE the internet crazy. There’s now talk that Star Wars might do the same thing.
The, not-release-anything-ahead-of -time thing. Not the, drive-me-absolutely-insane, thing.
You see, in a recent interview with Cinema Blend, Adam Driver (aka, Kylo Ren) got to talking about the upcoming trailer for Episode VIII (or, the current lack of the trailer). When Cinema Blend happened to ask if Adam would be okay without any trailer for the movie, he got way too excited and oh noooooooo.
"I think that'd be bold [to not release a trailer]. I'd love it, yeah! Then no one would know anything. The less people know, I feel like, the more exciting...the more of an event it is."
Noooooooooooo.
Realistically, this probably will not happen. Star Wars loves promotion, and we love Star Wars promotion, so obviously, there will be trailers and teasers and posters and pictures and everything. But can you even IMAGINE a world where suddenly a Star Wars movie just APPEARS without ANY WARNING? That would be the best thing, and also the most insane thing for our little hearts to handle.
Don’t go getting any ideas, First Order.
