Surprise! Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”
Star Wars is the biggest franchise on earth (and in galaxies far, far away, of course), so it’s safe to say that EVERYONE wants to be a part of it — even in cameo form. First, J.J. Abrams stuck Daniel Craig and Ewan McGregor into The Force Awakens in unrecognizable cameos. Now The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is doing the same.
While in Japan to promote The Last Jedi, Johnson revealed that frequent collaborator Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be providing a voice in the upcoming film.
Gordon-Levitt has appeared in nearly all of Johnson’s films, so it makes sense he’ll pop up for at least a hot second in The Last Jedi.
“You know what I can tell you is that my — and we haven’t said this yet, but I think this is OK to say – is that my very good friend, the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who was in a movie I made called Looper, he does a cameo as a voice of an alien in the film," Johnson said. "It’s a very brief little thing, but it’s fun, and if you watch the movie, maybe you’ll be able to hear and pick out Joe’s voice in the movie. That’s the first time I’m revealing that.
We’re definitely curious about what kind of alien Gordon-Levitt would play, but we have a feeling they may pop up in yet another cantina. Would this make him the new Greedo?
The Inception actor is the latest in a long list of famous faces to appear in one shape or another in the upcoming Star Wars film. He’ll be joining fellow long-time Johnson collaborator Noah Segen, as well as Tom Hardy, Prince William, Prince Harry, singer Gary Barlow, and Rogue One director Gareth Edwards, all of whom will allegedly be making cameos in the film.
The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15th, and it’s safe to say we’ll be on the lookout for *all* the celeb cameos.
