These ‘Star Wars’ fans had the perfect wedding in line for ‘Force Awakens’

Caroline Ritter and Andrew Porters flew to Los Angeles all the way from Australia to wait in line for twelve days to see the first showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the TCL Chinese Theatre. TWELVE DAYS, guys. But hey, these superfans were down for some multi-tasking, because while they were camped out at the historic theatre they also got married. (As one does while waiting in line for a movie.)

According to Entertainment Weekly, the couple was already planning a Star Wars-themed wedding when they heard the TCL Chinese Theatre was considering hosting just such an event at the movie’s premiere. They jumped at the chance to take part. “We’d never actually considered that was possible. We didn’t think it would ever happen, so we decided to take the chance and do it,” Caroline told EW.

It wasn’t Caroline’s first trip to the famous theatre. She attended the 2002 premiere of Attack of the Clones there, as well as the Revenge of the Sith premiere in 2005, after camping out for six weeks. Way to commit, Caroline. This bride is ALL IN.

As for Andrew, he’d never even seen a Star Wars movie until he started dating Caroline. Now he’s seen all of them. Obviously. He’s also accompanied Caroline to fan conventions and has basically become a true convert to the fandom. I mean, you pretty much have to be a superfan for Obi-Wan Kenobi to perform your nuptials.

At least that’s the word on the street. Obi-Wan wasn’t the only Star Wars character in attendance. Chewbacca showed up in a tux. (Because of course he did.)

Not to be outdone in the fashion department, R2-D2 rolled in wearing a bow tie.

And Darth Vader himself walked Caroline down the aisle. (BRIDE, I AM YOUR FATHER. Get it?)

Caroline and Andrew, we dig your fun-loving spirit, and we wish you many happy years together! May the Force be with you.
