Spotify’s Christmas present to us? THE BEATLES!

This year, we just might find John, Paul, George, and Ringo underneath the Christmas tree and even better, on our Spotify playlist. The Beatles are set to start streaming, and the news has us feeling like Sally Draper learning she’s going to see The Beatles in concert. This is the next best thing.

The Fab Four have been absent from much of the digital music world. For a long time, you couldn’t even purchase their music off of iTunes, and no, they’ve never streamed ANYWHERE before. Now, according to Billboard, they’re getting ready to make the leap into streaming, and are eyeing a December 24th release date. That’s five days away!

The negotiations to bring The Beatles to streaming have been long and on-going for the past year. Apple Records (but not THAT Apple) has been talking with the major streaming players, and instead of going with just one service, they might be going with a few. Spotify is at the top of the list, naturally, but everything from “Hey Jude” to “Hard Day’s Night” might wind up on Apple Music, Tidal, and even Rhapsody as well. This means no matter what platform you have, the original boy band will be right at your fingertips.

Keep in mind nothing about this plan has been made final yet, and there’s no true official announcement. When Billboard asked for comment from Spotify, they replied that they “would not comment on that.” However, all this Beatles chatter still points to a December 24th release, which means this year, instead of rocking around the Christmas tree, you’re going to be rocking out to “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” with a little help from your friends. Or “Day Tripper.” “Penny Lane!” All of The White Album! Still feeling like Sally.
