Spotify revealed the most-streamed song of summer, and we definitely saw this one coming

Music lovers and Top 40 enthusiasts officially have their answer to “Which song is officially the song of summer?” Was it “God Is A Woman”? “Apesh*t”? “Girls Like You,” perhaps? The summer bop of 2018 is (drumroll, please): Drake’s “In My Feelings.” According to Complex, “In My Feelings” was streamed on Spotify more than 393 million times between June 1st and August 20th. Wow.

Drake dominated the season with his latest album, Scorpion, which dropped on June 29th. Not only was it full of catchy tracks, but the highly personal album birthed several major fan theories—many around the singer’s son.

And we can’t really say we’re surprised. The song blew up after Instagram user theshiggyshow uploaded a video of himself dancing to the chorus. Literally everyone and their grandma started doing Shiggy’s dance and tagged it on social media as the #InMyFeelingsChallenge. The videos exploded and quickly became the 2018 equivalent of The Ice Bucket challenge—combined with the Harlem Shake.

Shiggy made such a splash that Drake even put him in the “In My Feelings” music video.

Following “In My Feelings” in the top slots were “Girls Like You” from Maroon 5 (featuring Cardi B), “I Like It” by Cardi B, and Juice WRLD’s “Lucid Dreams.” However, out of Spotify’s top 20 most-streamed songs, Drake scored five separate spots. Let’s give Drake a round of applause. He obviously deserves it.
