Hulu is now free for Spotify Premium members, and blessed be the fruit

Attention all Spotify Premium members: You now have a free Hulu membership on the side. The two streaming sites announced on Tuesday, March 12th that they are now offering a Spotify Premium + Hulu bundled package for $9.99 per month, which was previously the cost to sign up for a single Spotify Premium membership. The biggest takeaway here is that those who have been paying for both services only have to pay for one now.

If you are already a Spotify Premium subscriber, you can add Hulu in the “Your Services” section of your Spotify account. If you’ve already been paying for Hulu, quickly hit the “deactivate account” button and watch that $5.99 per month Hulu fee roll back into your bank account.

The two sites teamed up for a bundled package last year for $12.99 and anyone who signed up for that will automatically be dropped to the new $9.99 monthly price. It’s important to note that this is a team up between Spotify Premium and the ad-supported Hulu, meaning, your Spotify subscription is ad-free but your Hulu experience is not. It’s unclear if there is or will be a bundle for those who want an ad-free Hulu experience as well. You also cannot join the Hulu bundle if you currently have a Spotify family plan.

Spotify wrote in a press release that the company were inspired to create the bundle because people apparently love to search Spotify for the songs they hear in TV shows.

"Just take a look at the dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale. Fans of the show quickly headed to Spotify to stream the songs woven into many episodes’ pivotal scenes," Spotify wrote in the release. "U.S. streams of Bruce Springsteen’s 'Hungry Heart' and the Dusty Springfield classic 'I Only Want to Be with You' rose 86 percent and 127 percent, respectively, the week after the songs were played in season 2 episodes last summer."

The deal expires on June 10th, 2019, or while bundles are available, so act fast.
