We have our first spoiler for ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’

If you can believe it, the still untitled next next Star Wars installment is just about ready to go into production. Episode VII might not even be in theaters yet, and it’s never too early to start thinking about Episode VIII. Though we won’t see it up on the big screen for roughly two years — 2017 to be exact — the first spoiler for it has already been revealed.

And OK, it’s not so much a spoiler as it is confirmation as to who makes it to the end of Force Awakens, which at this point is still considered a spoiler. At the Star Wars press conference Sunday afternoon in LA, both cast and crew were out to answer questions about the upcoming movie. While no one has actually even seen the movie yet, that didn’t stop anyone from briefly touching on the future of Star Wars. Like, who will be back for more adventures in the galaxy far far away.

During one talk, long-time Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy GREATLY hinted that new character, Finn (played by John Boyega) will be back for Episode VIII. So even if it looks like he’s in some sort of grim peril during Force Awakens, he’s probably like 99.99% safe. Others who sound safe include Oscar Isaac, Gwendoline Christie and Harrison Ford, because according to Kennedy, “these guys are getting ready to head over in January.” And according to CinemaBlend, while she said “these guys” she gave a big ol’ pat on the back to Boyega.

Christie hinted herself that we’ll see here again, alluding to the fact that there are “big things” still ahead for Captain Phasma.

Who knows what this really all means right now, because, you know, the movie isn’t out yet. For all we know everyone getting ready to shoot in January is coming back as a Force ghost, à la Obi-Wan Kenobi. But either way, they’ll be back.
