Oh no, one popular Marvel hero might not make it into “Infinity War”

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is still brand new, but he’s already made his mark for Marvel fans everywhere. His short appearance in the Captain America: Civil War trailer had fans losing their minds. Then, he was adorable, was web-slinging perfection in the movie itself. His first solo film, Spider-Man: Homecoming is presently in the works. Maybe that’s why we just assumed he’d be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War. After all, that movie is going to feature a startling amount of characters; obviously, Spidey would be one of them, right?

Sadly, that may not be the case. In fact, if – and it seems like a big “if” – Holland will be appearing in Infinity War or its follow-up, Avengers 4, he doesn’t know it yet.

When asked about his potential role in Infinity War on Saturday at the New York Film Festival premiere of The Lost City of Z he said, “It’s all up in the air.

That’s a little concerning, mostly because work on the film is in full swing, so it’s unlikely an actor wouldn’t know that they were in the film. Though, with the large cast size there’s also the chance that some actors will only be included in a small portion of the film, and because Holland’s character is so young, he may not be involved in the giant fight against Josh Brolin’s Thanos.

Holland continued, “I believe some sort of deal is in the mix, but I’m unclear as to what that deal is. So, that’s potentially encouraging – we’d love to see Spider-Man appear in the biggest Marvel movie yet, because he's clearly awesome.

Holland also got real about his Spider-Man costume at the premiere, saying, “The suit’s not the greatest thing, but sometimes when it’s uncomfortable, you just have to remind yourself of the long list of actors that would love to be in that suit.” He said that in those moments, he thinks to himself,

"I’m the luckiest kid alive. I deserve to be here and I’m going to give it my best."

We’ll just have to wait and see if Tom Holland ends up in Infinity War; if not, we’d be sad – but we’re sure there will be plenty of superheroes in the film, even without our favorite wall-crawler.
