The internet is already loving “Spider-Man: Homecoming”

Spider-Man: Homecoming isn’t quite out for the world yet. The latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe drops on July 7th, but word on the street is coming in. The early verdict: Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is an excellent and worthy addition to the superhero film canon.

We’ve already seen a taste of Holland’s character in Captain America: Civil War. He was easily one of the best parts of that movie, and he’s been putting a charm offensive as of late. (Just think back to his Lip Sync Battle performance of Rihanna’s “Umbrella.”) That charm really seems to be paying off in early screenings of Homecoming, with folks saying that this is the real movie deal.

These reviewers and fans are convincing, and we really feel the hype:

The main thing early reviewers keep pressing is how fun the film is. The other iterations of Peter Parker were moody teenagers or men, with the previous actors donning the Spidey suit being Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Both of their character arcs ended in pretty dark places.

It’s not as though Tom Holland’s version will be all whizzbangs and laughs, but it’s heartening to hear that the new film keeps up its lighter theme.

Sometimes superhero films need brightness to counteract all the dangerous doom and gloom, and Wonder Woman is just one recent example.

Even folks who haven’t seen Homecoming are jazzed for it already: false
