Eeee! There’s an officially confirmed Spice Girls reunion!

Mel B, Scary Spice herself, appeared on Alan Carr’s New Year’s Specstacular in the UK and dropped a Spice Girls bomb heard clear round the world. According to Mel, our fave girl band is coming back together for a special reunion to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Excuse us while we completely freak out for minute…

Okay. Whew.

Suffice it to say, if an anniversary reunion performance happens, we WANNABE there.

The big question of course, is what about Victoria Beckham? She’s a major player in the fashion world now, and she was quoted exactly a year ago in Vanity Fair as saying, “I won’t ever do it again.” You might remember the Spice Girls last performed together at the closing ceremonies for the London Olympics in 2012. Victoria, formerly known as Posh Spice, told VF in January 2014, “Doing the Olympics was an incredible honor. I was so proud to do it, proud to be British. That was a perfect time to say, ‘That’s great. Thank you to everybody, but no more.’ Sometimes you’ve got to know when it’s time to leave the party.”

Mel B seems pretty keen to keep the party going. During her Specstacular appearance, she said, “To be serious, it is our twentieth anniversary this year and it would be rude not to celebrate so hopefully something will be happening pretty soon.” But it won’t happen without Posh. According to the Daily Mail, Mel sees all five of the original Spice Girls taking part. It just wouldn’t be the same without Victoria.

We hope Mel B’s plans come to fruition because a Spice Girls reunion would be the very definition of girl power awesomeness. After all, with 85 million in sales, they’re widely considered to be the best selling female group of all time. We’re dusting off our Union Jack dresses! You know, just in case.
