The Spice Girls are celebrating the 20th birthday of “Wannabe” in the best way
The Spice Girls‘ massive hit “Wannabe” is turning 20 years old this Friday! To celebrate, the über popular “Wannabe” video has been remade AND you can download the song for 99 pence on Amazon/iTunes, or stream, THIS FRIDAY! false
The new video features artists from the UK, Canada, USA, India, Nigeria and South Africa. The purpose of the remake is to push global issues including education, violence against women, gender equality, equal pay for equal work, child marriage and an end to violence against women.
The video was put together by Project Everyone, the campaign that works to eradicate poverty, injustice and fight climate change. Along with its launch on YouTube, the video will also run in movie theaters all across the world.
“This is about modern day girl power,” the video’s director MJ Delaney said. “The Spice Girls were about a group of different women joining together and being stronger through that bond. These differences are what we want to celebrate in this film, while showing there are some universal things that all girls, everywhere, really, really want.” Zig-a-zig-ah.
