Spending New Year’s Eve on your couch? You’re not alone

New Year’s Eve is a polarizing holiday. Some people love donning glittery dresses and ushering in the new year with a bang. But for others, it’s their worst nightmare. A recent survey conducted by Drizly, in partnership with Netflix, revealed that staying in and lying on the couch watching Netflix on New Year’s Eve is actually way more common than you might think.

If you’re able to withstand the FOMO and not go ~out~ on New Year’s Eve, you’ll be in good company. According to a press release from Drizly, 69 percent of people surveyed plan to either host a New Year’s Eve party at home or go to a friend’s house. And 15 percent of the people surveyed said they’re going to stay home and watch Netflix on the couch this New Year’s Eve. That’s a pretty large percentage, considering that NYE is the most overhyped day of the year and conjures images of a wild night out.

As for everyone else? 16% of people surveyed by Drizly said they’ll either be heading “out on the town” or having a nice dinner with friends. Basically, the most common New Year’s Eve plan involves either staying home on your own couch or heading to a friend’s house to sit on theirs. Also, let’s be real: Hosting a party at home usually devolves into watching reruns on Netflix anyway. So if you’re questioning your choice to stay in and catch up on The Crown on NYE, consider this your official seal of approval.

Couch dwellers, rejoice!

You could work on your night cheese.

And you can always sit on your couch in a sparkly dress.

Nobody said staying in means you can’t get dressed up. Shine bright like a diamond!

Nobody will judge you if you ring in 2018 from a comfortable horizontal position.

Treat your Z’s like they’re Pokémon this New Year’s Eve: gotta catch ’em all. (While Bridget Jones’s Diary plays in the background, of course.)

One thing’s for sure: There’s no cause for FOMO on NYE.

Happy 2018!
