So, these Spanish words are absolutely impossible to pronounce (no, seriously, try it)

Whenever people ask about my Spanish, I always respond that I can speak and comprehend the language well enough to follow the story lines on a telenovela, find the nearest restroom and save my life (the last two are basically the same thing). Typical challenges that come along with learning to speak Spanish involve perfecting the accent and rolling those godforsaken Rs. Both skills come in handy when attempting to say the word trastorno, which happens to be one of the hardest Spanish words to pronounce, at least according to an experiment conducted by Pero Like.

In a short YouTube clip, a few people who have horrible to decent Spanish-speaking skills try their hand at pronouncing four words, and let me tell y’all: The linguistics struggle is real.

This is what an attempt at pronouncing trastorno looks like IRL:

Trust, it’s harder than it looks.

After introducing the word idiosincrasia, the participants are forced to play hardball with the following problematic palabra from hell:

As one participant put it, “OH HELLL NO.”

Like, why even try it?! I don’t know about you guys, but at this point, my brain can no longer transmit clear signals to my tongue so any efforts to pronounce this word are futile.

Believe it or not, the words and the tongue-twisting fails get even more spectacular in the rest of the video. Watch at the risk of feeling like an incompetent, tongue-tied idiot. In the meantime, I’ll stick to simpler tasks, like singing “Irreplaceable” in Spanish.
