This new Spanglish take on “No Scrubs” will have you dancing in no time
When we say the ’90s are back, we mean it. For those of us who grew up during that decade, it feels pretty weird realizing that those days were over twenty years ago. The late ’90s and early aughts feel like they stood still against the passing of time. Boy bands and girl power were all the rage, and scrubs…well, scrubs were definitely not the rage. The insult went from offensive to totally diss-worthy thanks to TLC’s 1999 classic “No Scrubs,” and now we have Wendy Sarmiento’s take on the song to obsesses over.
The Spanglish version will have you dancing in no time — we promise.

The song, which starts with Wendy crooning in Spanish, isn’t TLC right off the bat. Instead, there is some Latin influence woven in, before Wendy jumps into the classic song, singing in Spanish. The single, which was produced by the duo Dropout, features Wendy’s sweet and spicy vocals. There’s also some Latin-style guitar and a catchy dance beat to help us see this iconic song in a new light.
It may be almost 20 years old, but there are still new ways to enjoy a lack of scrubs, which only goes to show that “No Scrubs” will always stand the test of time.
Did we mention that Wendy is only 16? She was on Telemundo’s La Voz Kids, a reality show created to find the next big thing in music, when she was eleven. Half a decade later, and this single is really proving that she can walk the walk.
