This “Game of Thrones” director talked about whether we’ll ever see Lady Stoneheart

**Warning, major spoilers for the books and show ahead.**

The incredible sixth season of Game of Thrones just ended, but there are still a lot of questions that remain unanswered on the show. One of those big questions is, WILL WE EVER GET LADY STONEHEART?

You’ve probably heard this name come up at least a few times amongst fan chatter, but for anyone who doesn’t know who the heck Lady Stoneheart is, here’s the gist.

First, we have to go way back to the Red Wedding. In the books, after Catelyn Stark is brutally murdered, the Freys dump her body into a river. Her body is later pulled out and brought back to life by Lord Beric Dondarrion (Mr. Eyepatch).

Basically, he gives up his life for hers with some Lord of Light magic (hence, why Lady Stoneheart fans were like “WHAT!? NO!!!” when he showed up alive and well talking to the Hound a few episodes ago in Episode 8 “No One.”) Unfortunately, though she’s resurrected, Catelyn’s body doesn’t heal entirely and she’s can’t speak either.

From A Storm of Swords:

In her newly (messed up) resurrected form Catelyn seeks out cold revenge for everything that went down, takes lead of the Brotherhood Without Banners, and becomes known as “Lady Stoneheart.”

TL;DR – Lady Stoneheart is a resurrected, scary-looking, vengeance-seeking, Catelyn Stark.

Fans of the books have been praaaaying for Lady Stoneheart’s appearance on the show for a long time, but obviously this hasn’t happened. And, it sounds like it may never happen.

In a recent interview with IGN, Director Mark Mylod (“The Broken Man” and “No One”) commented, “I can honestly say, hand over heart, that I have not had one discussion about Lady Stoneheart.” Say it ain’t so, Mylod! We want to hear that the showrunners ARE talking about Stoneheart.

But maybe there’s still a little hope. Mylod also added that, “I genuinely couldn’t comment about whether that [Lady Stoneheart] might or might not be in their minds for the future.” Which we’d like to just interpret as, “Yes, it is on David and Dan’s minds…probably.” ¯_(ツ)_/¯

We’ll keep hoping. I mean, Beric Dondarrion and his eyepatch are still running around, so in THEORY it could still happen, but then it’s been a preeetty long time since Catelyn’s death, so…ICK.

Then again, the show was VERY adamant about Jon Snow being dead, so in the Thrones-verse YOU NEVER KNOW!
