ONE THING in Season 7 threw off the Netflix “Gilmore Girls” revival, and we must know what it is
The legend of Gilmore Girls goes like this: The show was created and mostly written by Amy Sherman-Pallidino, who always had a ~perfect~ ending for Gilmore Girls in mind. But, after a contract dispute with Warner Bros. before the start of Season 7, she left the show, and it finished without her. She took her ~perfect~ ending with her, never to see the light of daaaayyy…
UNTIL RIGHT NOW, WITH GILMORE GIRLS COMING BACK.
Now, Sherman-Palladino gets to finish off the story of Lorelai and Rory her way, perfect ending (aka, those final four words) included. There’s just one little thing that happened in Season 7 that she’s not a big fan of, and it’s kinda thrown off her plan for the revival.
And wait, what?
Yes. Speaking at last month’s TCA panel, Sherman-Palladino admitted that she hasn’t even seen Season 7 (we get that). Since she hasn’t watched it herself, and doesn’t plan to, she called up her friends to ask them what they thought of Season 7. More importantly, she called to ask if her plans for the revival interfered with what happened to Lorelai and Rory at the very end.
“I called [my friends] and went, ‘We’re thinking of doing this. What steps on it?’” She explained. “There was one thing I wish… I’m not going to tell you. [But] it was the only thing where I was like, ‘Ah, I’ll go a different way.’”
O. M. G. Without actually saying it, there is one thing in Season 7 that ASP wishes DIDN’T happen, because it doesn’t mesh with her original Gilmore Girl plan. Now we have to know what this is. This just jumped to the top of our Gilmore Girls list.
So what might it be? We made a short list
Could it be the back-and-forth long-distance relationship between Rory and Logan, and then the fact that he PROPOSED?
What about Lorelai and Christopher’s relationship?
Lorelai and Christopher’s trip to Paris?
Was Lorelai alway supposed to end up with Luke at the very end?
Was Rory not supposed to start on the campaign trail after college?
Wait, it’s totally Lorelai and Christopher eloping, RIGHT?
Or Lane’s pregnancy?
Paris almost breaking up with Doyle?
The fact that it rained during Rory’s goodbye party?
Or the last Stars Hollow Spring Fling Festival
Honestly, there are a million things it could be, and we’re not going to stop obsessing over this until we figure it out. Something’s amiss in Gilmore Girls season 7, and we must know.
