The official plot for “Solo” is here — but there’s still no trailer, no images, and the movie comes out in 129 days
The good news is that Solo: A Star Wars Story is coming! The even better news is that it’s coming so soon (like 129 days soon)! And now the awkward news is that while the movie drops in literally *four* months, we still don’t have a trailer for it, let alone a single official image. And no, we’re not counting Ron Howard’s tweets right now (but those are great, and please keep them up). But hey, even though we’re missing a lot of information for this movie, at least Disney has released the synopsis…?
In a new post on StarWars.com, the synopsis for Solo is revealed, but it’s a lot of stuff we already know:
“Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”
StarWars.com even reiterates that, “not much else is known about the film,” and you know, I feel really good about this! [Narrator: She actually had a bad feeling about this.]
The road to Solo has been a bumpy one, unlike jumping to lightspeed. The casting search for the young, scruffy looking nerf herder was a long and intense one, and finally ended with Alden Ehrenreich in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. Chewie will also be there, and Lando Calrissian (a swagger-filled Donald Glover) will get in on the fun. This sounds great, and always did sound great, and then last summer the film’s directors — Phil Lord and Chris Miller — were abruptly fired and replaced with our favorite Arrested Development narrator.
The dust has finally started to settle on this shakeup, and now we’re inching closer to the release of Solo, which the cast is promising will be f-i-n-e. That’s awesome, and I’ll take anything Sir Donald Glover says as scripture, but we’re 129 days away from the movie and we don’t have a single trailer for it. We don’t have a single image for it. We, shockingly, don’t even know what Han Solo will look like in the movie. This is just…unheard of for Star Wars — a brand that literally dedicated an entire day, 105 days before the movie opened, to buying toys for the movie.
We’re 129 days away from Solo and we have…Ron Howard’s tweets. But they’re still great tweets, and I love you, Ron. I just want…more. So much more. This whole situation is just a really odd, and uncharted territory for Star Wars. At this point, Lucasfilm should just hold off on posting a single trailer, since it’s not like we’re not going to see this movie. We’re going in 129 days. It just might be nice to have a shot of Han first.
