Solange asked the internet for a random favor, and they delivered the goods
The internet is a magical place full of creative and kind people willing to help out when called upon. Knowing this, Solange Knowles called upon Twitter for a favor, and Twitter delivered big time. Of course, when you’re a Knowles, it probably isn’t terribly hard to get people to do awesome things for you.
Here’s what happened: Knowles had a dream of bringing together a mashup of The Wiz and Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreak track “Bad News.” If you aren’t familiar with The Wiz, it’s the 1978 musical version of The Wizard of Oz starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. It’s a bizarre movie, but in the best way, and it’s totally worth watching. So if you haven’t seen it, you should probably get on that.
But back to Knowles. She took to Twitter to ask her fans to pull through with a video collage.
She wrote, “can somebody make a video collage of the “bad news” scene from the wiz, to kanyes bad news and send it to me please? thanks” false
Two talented people took on the challenge and created pretty incredible video collages, and Knowles was beside herself with gratitude. She posted both videos to Instagram, thanking her fans for their help.
"i had a dream of pairing bad news (the wiz) and bad news (kanye) together... and rona akbari and hunter harris made my dreams come true," she captioned the first video. "for this i am forever grateful."
And Knowles was just as impressed with the second video. “still shook,” she wrote.
So moral of the story: If you dream hard enough, anything is possible. Well, if you’re Solange Knowles and you ask for it, that is.
