Solange is set to direct SZA’s next video, and this thing is going to be HUGE

We’re calling it early — this will be a match made in musical heaven. Solange and SZA have joined creative forces to bring us the ultimate display of #BlackGirlMagic. It was recently confirmed that Solange will be directing SZA’s next music video, and we’re pretty sure this is the definition of perfection. We don’t have all the details yet, but we do know SoLo will be adding the visuals to SZA’s “The Weekend” from her Ctrl album, and it will be a huge production — featuring 10 different locations and looks.

“The Weekend” hasn’t been released as an official single yet, but we’re guessing it’s just a matter of time. The track quickly became one of the most popular (and most quoted on Twitter) tracks from the album, and has even been covered by various other celebs, including Miguel.

As for the video’s collaboration, SZA said she and Solange met a little over a year ago and have been talking about collaborating ever since. And she thanks the universe for bringing them closer together. What better way to solidify a friendship than to create a music video together?

“I love her, SZA said in an interview with USA Today. “I think the universe is just bringing us closer to each other. That’s my homegirl.

The two have been friends for a little while now, but we’d like to think it all started back in July, when Solange posted an Instagram story of herself listening to “Love Galore,” another track from SZA’s debut album. false

The 26-year-old breakout singer couldn’t help but immediately fangirl on Twitter once she saw Solange admiring her music.

“Sigh I jus wanna hold hands ’n spin around that room w/chu,” SZA tweeted at Solange.

A few hours later, Grammy-winning artist, songwriter, and Beyoncé’s little sister responded by saying,

“Less make a date and dooo it!

If another artist is going to be in charge of adding visuals to your music, it may as well be Solange Knowles. We’ve already seen how gifted she is when it comes to creating mind-blowingly beautiful works of art — remember her performance piece at The Guggenheim, titled An Ode To?

We absolutely cannot wait to see what she’ll do with SZA’s music video.
