We can’t get over the “SNL” “Aladdin” sketch with Adam Driver

Guys, I am loving SNL lately! The past few years has seen the show’s absurdist sense of humor really take flight, with strange sketches such as “Christmas at Nana’s” and “Close Encounter” making me go from giggles to outright guffaws. So, true to form, Adam Driver had a myriad of hilarious sketches this past Saturday, including the “Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base” sketch and a hilarious take on the realities of dating Aladdin and flying about on a magic carpet:

Driver and Cecily Strong own it, don’t they? (Where can I get that sweet Jasmine costume?) I mean, when I was a little girl, I dreamed Aladdin would show up at my window and whisk me away for a night of frivolity and romance. In my mind, Aladdin was positively dreamy: He was smart, had a genie and could fly. It never occurred to me that his main form of transportation could be so… catastrophic. Yet, the sketch ends on a high note: Aladdin and Jasmine remain in love (and feeling frisky). I have to admit: If airline sewage were dumped on me, I would not still be feeling in the mood. I’d just want to shower… alone.

I’m not the only fan to commend SNL on a strong week. Many took to Twitter to express just how impressed they were by the show’s sketches.

Hopefully Driver and the writers and performers over at SNL are patting themselves on the back for a job incredibly and hystericallywell done. I can’t wait to see what SNL does next!
