Last night, stars from Broadway gathered for a massive musical fundraiser in support of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Presidential Nominee. The party featured numerous performances from big name stars like Emily Blunt, Lin Manuel-Miranda, and Cynthia Erivo. The fundraiser comes with only two weeks to go until election day on November 8th. One of our favorite performances was an incredible throwback to Annie, which premiered on Broadway in 1977. One of the first bright young stars to play the little orphan girl on Broadway was Sex and the City and Divorce star, Sarah Jessica Parker.
Sarah Jessica Parker reprised her first Broadway role by singing “Tomorrow” with another of the original Annies, Andrea McArdle.
SJP has done so many other awesome things since her Broadway days that we totally forgot that one of her first big breaks was in Annie. And her singing is still incredible. Both of these ladies’ voices are. We are so impressed by their awesome skills.
SJP still looks totally at home on stage with Andrea.
What a perfect celebration of girl power for these two belting beauties to sing in support of the first female Presidential Nominee.
And SJP was just as fabulous then as she is now. Just check her out performing in 1979 for a Bob Hope Special.
