Siri is biased against people who don’t subscribe to Apple Music

*beep* Siri, are you biased against me because I don’t have Apple Music? According to Tom Conrad, the co-founder of Pandora, yes. When he asked Siri to tell him the most popular song in the US today, she had a somewhat unexpected reply: “Sorry, Tom. I can’t look up the music charts for you. You don’t seem to be subscribed to Apple Music.”

Conrad tweeted the picture, expressing his disbelief.

This lit a fire in iPhone users. The response was confirmed by NBC News. We’ve always known Siri can be a little mischievous, but she’s never straight-up withheld information. Plus, according to Apple Music subscribers, Siri doesn’t know the answer to this question anyways! Take a look:

It’s kind of a weird ploy to get people to buy Apple Music, and it’s a little misleading, since not having Apple Music has nothing to do with her ability to look up the charts. It appears that’s not something Siri can do either way.

But I can’t say too many bad things about Siri — mostly because I’m worried that if she hears she’ll start rebelling against me. She’s the only other person who has access to my Seamless account, and I’d hate to see what she’d do with it if I made her angry. I better order some dumplings now just to be safe.
