This water aerobics routine to ‘Single Ladies’ is giving us life
Beyoncé’s music video for Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) features one of the most iconic dance routines of all time. (I’m resisting the urge to make a Kanye West joke here — but you know the one.) Since the video’s debut in 2008, the routine has been parodied and imitated and remixed by thousands. It’s one of the most notable events in pop culture in the past ten years — and definitive proof of Queen Bey’s power over our collective musical landscape.
For all the many forms that Single Ladies has taken over the years, however, this video of a water aerobics instructor laying it down might be one of our favorites. The video, taken at Hotel Condesa De La Bahia in Alcudia, Spain, features one very energetic teacher and his class of students just trying to keep up. We wouldn’t be surprised if he spends his free time as a Beyoncé impersonator, because his moves are totally mesmerizing.
Originally uploaded to Facebook by Rebecca Jane Wells, the post was quick to viral. To date, it’s racked up over 53,000 shares and 4.5 million views. If you thought those moves were hard on dry land, we can only imagine how tough the routine is when you’re submerged waist-deep in water.
Of course, the instructor remains at the pool’s edge so everyone can get a full view of the proper execution for these killer moves. It’s a sight to behold: As it turns out, if you liked it then you should have put an inner tube on it. Check out the video for yourself below.
