“The Simpsons” predicted this stunning Olympic upset back in 2010, and we’re not even surprised
You may not know this, but The Simpsons is pretty good at predicting the future. Like, freakishly good. The long-running television series has predicted everything from Donald Trump’s presidency and a female Doctor Who to Lady Gaga performing at the Super Bowl. So, we’re not really surprised that yet another prediction has come true. The U.S. men’s curling team won an unexpected gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics, and apparently, The Simpsons predicted this back in February 2010.
Now, we hear what you’re saying. The Simpsons has been on television for a *long* time, so many of its predictions — like the Disney-Fox merger — are bound to become true. However, the show not only predicted that Team USA would bring home the gold medal in men’s curling (for the first time in history), but it also foresaw which country we’d be facing in the final match.
Freaky, right?
The “first” Team USA gold medal in curling, according to The Simpsons, happened in season 21 during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. In the episode, Homer and Marge Simpson win the gold medal against Sweden. Yep, the show even got that part right.
Even The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean took to Twitter to celebrate another prediction come true.

Naturally, Twitter’s been in awe of The Simpsons’ fortune-telling abilities, and we can definitely see why. false false false false
Congrats to @USACurling2018 on their gold! Not the first time the US beat Sweden, though. Marge and Homer did it eight years ago.https://t.co/HLAHXDBhgh

The Simpsons writer Josh Weinstein even tried to claim the show predicted the rogue Olympic squirrel that somehow cheated death during this year’s women’s snowboard slalom event. It didn’t really happen like that, but we’re still on board.

Matt Groening — the creator of The Simpsons — is also the genius behind Futurama. So, we can’t help but wonder if there’s a subtle hint there. Maybe Groening himself is from the future, and we’re all witnessing it unfold. Either way, we all want to know what prediction is going to happen next. Can world peace be an option?
