Contestant covers Sia’s “Chandelier” on ‘The Voice,’ wins our hearts forever

We’ve all belted out Sia’s “Chandelier” in the car at some point — because, you know, it’s catchy and badass and ALL the good things. As a result, we all know how hard it is to hit those ridiculously high notes (that Sia rocks like it’s NBD). It’s cool, though — obviously we can’t all be Sia, so we’ll keep on singin’ it, even if it sounds more like screaming.

That’s why we’re totally freaking out over the performance of one 22-year-old on NBC’s The Voice last night. In a blind audition, Harlan County resident Jordan Smith totally blew the judges away with his unbelievable cover of “Chandelier.” He hit every single note with absolute gorgeous precision, all while putting his own twist on it. And you can see how stunned the judges are by his talent — especially because every single one turned their chairs around, meaning they ALL wanted him on their team. SLAAAAY.

At the end of the audition, Gwen Stefani ran towards him and hugged him, gushing, “Oh my god, you shocked me. . . that was the most trippiest turn-around, blind audition freakiest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. You do not look like your voice, just FYI.”

“But that’s the super coolest part about it,” Pharrell added, “that individuality standing on stage right now.”

When Jordan expressed to them how long it took for him to accept his own individuality, they all expressed why that uniqueness is so needed on The Voice — and everywhere. “I think not just the show but the world needs a person like you,” Adam Levine told Jordan after his performance. “I think you’re the most important person that’s ever been on this show.”

After Jordan chose Adam, Adam tells the camera, “The world can learn a lot from Jordan. He was lifting every single person in the room and when I turned around and experienced it, I thought to myself, ‘Wow, this kid is a wonderful human being and also a talented human being.’ I love it when those things collide.”

ALL OF THE FEELINGS. Check out this unbelievable cover and see why Jordan Smith has won our hearts over forever with his stellar voice and attitude.
