J. Crew

It is a sad, sad day in the bridal world. After 12 years in the business, J. Crew is killing off its bridal line, a move that leaves a big hole in the wedding dress business. Launched in 2004, the company was among the first ready-to-wear retailers to get into the bridal game, paving the way for brands like Anthropologie, H&M, and ASOS to begin offering wedding gowns.

J. Crew’s line of bridal and bridesmaid dresses was always chic yet classic, and often sold at prices below or comparable to bridal-only retailers. We’ve long loved their frocks and are super sad to see this line go.

The company says it’s axing the line because of lagging sales, telling Racked it will soon begin offering an expanded collection of party and special occasion dresses instead.

There’s a bit of good news for brides, future brides, and bridesmaids, though. All of J. Crew’s bridal frocks must be cleared out, which means they’re selling for up to 70% off right now.

If you’re searching for the perfect dress — or need to outfit your bridesmaids for an upcoming wedding — head to J. Crew’s website (right after you’ve finished browsing some of our faves from the collection, below). Many sizes, styles, and colors have already sold out, so shop fast if you’re dreaming of becoming a J. Crew bride.
