Now that hot girl summer is officially over, it’s time to embrace fluffy lady fall. As the temperatures drop and the winds get chilly, it’s time to get serious about our outerwear and prepare to go into survival mode—in style, of course. Puffer coats are winter’s obvious go-to garments for the season, and for good reason: a) they keep you super snug, and b) they’re cute as hell!

Brands have rolled out a wide array of designs to fit every style. From trendy metallics and bright colors to muted neutrals and autumnal patterns, there’s something to fit every aesthetic. Plus, many companies have jumped on the sustainable bandwagon, using recycled materials, ethical down fillings, and planet-friendly ways of manufacturing their clothing—rejoice!

Below, eleven of our favorite puffer coats that we’ll be wearing all winter.

Gap put 40 discarded plastic bottles to good use by creating this puffer coat, made from 100% recycled poly-fill, lining, and shell. The coat comes in blue, black, fuchsia, green, red, yellow and violet, and each has a smooth, water-resistant exterior and fleece-lined pockets for extra warmth.

This coat comes in this wine color as well as white, pink, mint, lilac, and black, and has a hidden drawstring at the waist if you’re so inclined to cinch it and create an hourglass shape. Reviewers say it runs large, so make sure to size down when making your pick.

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: Plaid is the go-to pattern for winter and fall. Don’t keep it contained to your sweaters, blankets, and nail art, though. Move it to your outerwear collection as well! This cute piece has side pockets and a detachable hood, and it’s machine washable—you know, just in case your sledding expedition doesn’t go exactly as planned.

Another hot trend that’s sure to stay around for seasons to come is metallic materials—it’s a way to play up neutrals in a fun and eye-catching way that still feels sophisticated and cool. This shiny jacket comes in sizes X-4X, and it has snap pockets and a high neckline to further protect you from the cold.

The neutral-toned color-block style also makes it easy to wear with everything in your wardrobe. We’re not saying that it will definitely be your go-to puffer coat this winter, but we’re not saying that it won’t be either.
