There’s an active shooter at the YouTube headquarters — here’s what we know

There has been yet another shooting in the United States. This afternoon, April 3rd, police in San Bruno, California confirmed that there was an active shooter situation at the YouTube headquarters.

Several YouTube employees tweeted around 1 p.m. that there had been gunshots outside of the company’s office on Cherry Avenue. Vadim Lavrusik wrote on Twitter that he and other coworkers barricaded themselves in a room after they heard shots and saw people running from the scene.

San Bruno City Manager Connie Jackson told CNN that multiple YouTube employees had called 911 to report the shooting. The city responded by sending a “massive police and fire response” to the YouTube headquarters.

Police confirmed the shooting at about 1:30 p.m. PST and asked people to stay away from the area.

"We are responding to an active shooter," police said in a tweet. "Please stay away from Cherry Ave & Bay Hill Drive."

An unnamed law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that at least two people have been hit in the shooting. So far, no fatalities have been reported, but Northern California’s Stanford Hospital told the San Francisco Chronicle that it had received four or five patients from the YouTube shooting. Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital is also reportedly receiving patients.

Video footage of the shooting shows employees evacuating the building with their hands above their heads.

Police have confirmed that the shooting suspect was female and that she was dead.
