Shirley MacLaine thinks Oprah should be president

We are not the only ones who are fans of this idea. Now, Shirley MacLaine thinks Oprah should be president, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Yup, MacLaine said so at the Austin Film Society’s Texas Film Awards on March 9th. There, MacLaine received the society’s lifetime achievement award. ICYMI, the awards are a fundraiser for the Austin Film Society. Not only do they recognize Texas filmmakers, but also people who have had an effect on Texan cinema. And filmmaker Richard Linklater (Before Sunrise, anybody?!) founded it back in 1985 “to empower our community to make, watch, and love film and creative media,” according to the Austin Film Society website.

So how did Oprah come up?

As you may know, Oprah’s going to play MacLaine’s role in the Terms of Endearment remake. What did MacLaine have to say about it? That Oprah should be president. Okay, one of our female idols saying that about another one of our female idols?! YES, please!

MacLaine’s not the first person to nominate Oprah for president. You may remember that Michael Moore loves the idea, too.

However, BFF Gayle’s not a fan of Oprah running for president.

BUT, most importantly, what does Oprah think of running for president?!

Recently, during an interview for The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations, on Bloomberg Television, Oprah said she’d ~maybe~ consider it.

Thank you, Shirley MacLaine, for being yet another supporter of #OprahForPresident. One thing’s for sure: We’re def on board and will start campaigning anytime. Who’s in?
