Shiri Appleby just went blonde — and she did it for “UnREAL”

In this world, there are two types of hair personalities. People who change their hue on the regular, and those who have rocked the same look their whole lives. We thought actress Shiri Appleby fell into the second camp — until now. Appleby just debuted her blonde transformation —  and she looks incredible.

According to Us Weekly, Appleby went blonde to shoot her Lifetime series UnREALTalk about getting into character!

“The 4th season of UnREAL starts production soon,” Appleby told Us. “And the color change is a part of the story. When I read it and learned how the story evolves, I really wanted to go for it and make a statement. Also, I’ve never been blonde and figured, ‘if not now, when?’”

Going from dark brown to blonde is a HUGE adjustment — a fact not lost on Appleby.

“I’ve only had a few highlights in my life,” she continued. “I’ve always been very natural, so this has been a big change.”

Yesterday, Appleby posted a photo of the new look on Instagram, and it is STUN-NING.

“Do blondes have more fun? I’m about to find out,” she adorably wrote in the caption.

Appleby’s hair was in good hands. Earlier this month, she got her locks dyed by Tracey Cunningham, the preferred hairstylist of Chrissy Teigen, Leslie Mann and Khloé Kardashian at LA’s Mèche Salon.

The transformation took seven hours.

As to not scare her kids, she told them her hair color was going to change beforehand. She even showed photos to her oldest daughter so she knew what to expect.

"It’s been a week now and I really love it," Appleby said. "I’ll wait till we finish shooting at the end of January to decide if I’m a blonde at heart."

Either way, she’s sure to look gorgeous.
