‘She’s All That’ is getting a remake! We repeat, ‘She’s All That’ is getting a remake!
All ’90s teen movies are gold, but some shine a little bit brighter than others. One of those happens to be She’s All That — staring the duo of Rachel Leigh Cook and Freddie Prinze Jr. — and guess what you guys? IT’S GETTING A REMAKE. Sorry for that all caps action, but this is important stuff.
She’s All That was an updated story of My Fair Lady, which was an updated version of Pygmalion. It’s worked three times before, so why not try it again? The Weinstein Company and Miramax are currently developing the film, and Spike Lee’s wife, Tonya Lewis Lee, is in place to direct it (female director, FTW). There’s no script written, and no actors attached to the film yet, but that’s OK. This is still the very early stages of the movie, and all that will fall into place later.
The best thing for this remake would simply be to grab the original actors for it, including RLC and FPJ, but that part of our She’s All That 2.0 dream probably won’t come true. FPJ has already taken to Twitter to let us know he won’t be reprising his role as teen heartthrob, Zack. He seems OK to pass that torch onto someone new.
We’ll start coming up with our own dream cast after the initial excitement settles (but still, never forget that the original cast also included Matthew Lillard, Anna Paquin, Gabrielle Union, Dulé Hill, Lil’ Kim, Usher, and the late Paul Walker). If you’re still way too pumped for this to happen, you can get your original She’s All That fix right now, because it’s on Netflix instant. You’re welcome for the sudden drop in productivity for the afternoon.
