This one “Sherlock” theory suggests the show has been dropping clues about the latest ~twist~ all along

There was a huge game-changing twist at the end of the latest Sherlock episode, “The Lying Detective.”

If you’ve seen it, you know that it packs a double-whammy for the series: It confirms that there IS a third Holmes sibling out there — but it’s a sister, not a brother. It’s okay if you need to take a few minutes and collect yourself, because it is quite a bombshell for the beloved BBC series.

However, it honestly shouldn’t have been that much of a Sherlock shock. If you’ve been paying attention to the series from the very beginning, the show has actually been dropping lil’ clues about the reveal of the third Holmes child, and not only that, that this mysterious Euros might not just be a sibling, but a twin.

Okay, so let’s go back a little bit. Earlier this week, we discovered a theory about Sherlock and VAMPIRES! Yes, vampires. It actually makes some sense, suggesting that Euros is this “vampire” and as a child, tried to kill Sherlock, and that’s why she’s been MIA from the family. Make sense?

In a small departure from this theory, Sherlock and Euros aren’t siblings. They’re twins. In a Reddit theory from The-Urchin:

Sherringford and Sherlock are twins. She tried to drown him as a child. Maybe Redbeard saved him.

Sherlock has a deep connection to the family’s dog, Redbeard (it’s his pressure point). In the last episode, we saw a little Sherlock with Redbeard in the water. Sherlock once made a mention to how Redbeard had to be “put down,” but the way he describes it, it sounds way worse than simply a dog being put down due to old age.

Now going off of THAT, Sherlock has made many, many references to twins — “It’s never twins.” Every time he did, it was sort of a joke:

ORLY SHERLOCK? Maybe sometimes it IS twins. Maybe Sherlock keeps shooting down this twins theory because he, himself, is a twin. We wouldn’t put it past Sherlock to hide a major clue in plain sight right in front of us. We’ll find out the real story behind Sherlock and Euros (and Mycroft) this Sunday.
