Shannon Purser from “Stranger Things” opened up about the downsides of getting famous so fast

So, we know by now that Barb won’t be coming back to Stranger Things. But actress Shannon Purser is still rising to fame pretty quickly, thanks to her role in Riverdale. Between the two hit shows, she’s slowly but surely becoming a household name — and she’s got the Emmy nomination to prove it.

Even though she only appeared in four episodes of Stranger Things, Purser was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. And it could be because fans couldn’t stay quiet over how relatable and sweet her character was. Surprisingly, playing Barb was Purser’s very first role in a television series, proving that she’s got the natural talent to make it big in the industry.

But of course, the instant fame brings a lot of pressure.

"I'm just so thankful," she said to Entertainment Tonight during Variety's Power of Young Hollywood event in Los Angeles. "I don't think I would have imagined this in a million years, so I'm kind of just trying to enjoy the ride."

Purser, who is just 20 years old, admitted that sometimes it can get a little overwhelming. But she’s handling it like we would — by occasionally crying in the shower.

"I think I'll be like, handling it fine and then I'll take a shower and I'll just start crying. Like, it's so much," she said. "But it's everything I've wanted for such a long time. It's incredible."

It’s definitely incredible — in fact, it’s pretty much the ultimate dream for those who wish to get into acting. Purser definitely knows how to choose the right roles. But admitting that it’s much harder than it looks makes us love her even more.

We can’t wait to see Purser at the Emmy awards. Fingers crossed she snags the win!
