Shannen Doherty set the record straight about a cancer myth after someone literally jumped away from her in an elevator, and, so much yes

We’ve been on board with Shannen Doherty every step of the way since her breast cancer diagnosis, and it breaks our hearts to hear that she was treated strangely by a total, um, stranger. But cancer is one of those things that makes many people feel anxious; hence why Doherty is sharing what happened and dropping some truth bombs about the realities of the disease.

In her Instagram post, Doherty shared that a woman ‘lunged away’ from her in an elevator after overhearing her mention that she had radiation treatment that day.

"Driving home from radiation with my love @kurtiswarienko Today, we were in an elevator and I was asked how I was feeling. I responded by saying that I had just gotten a radiation treatment so therefore very tired. The random girl on the elevator with us physically lunged away as far as she could."

Doherty has been nothing but 100% open and honest about her experience with cancer, and that clearly hasn’t changed. She went on to set the record straight about cancer and radiation.

"She then proceeded to look horrified for the next 3 floors. Just a heads up.... 1. You can't catch it 2. The radiation won't leak out of me and go into you. Hope that helps. #cancertruths from the #cancerslayer."

That’s absolutely right. Cancer is not contagious, and we appreciate Doherty’s humor, positive attitude, and unshakable zest for life — not just in this post, but in every one of them (remember when she dressed her dog up for Halloween?). She’s kicking ass and living each day to the fullest.

Here she is with her mom (we love the holidays too, lady!).

Keep being real with us, Shannen! So much love to you.
