Shannen Doherty says her recent tumor test came back “elevated,” and here’s what that means

Back in 2015, former Charmed actress Shannen Doherty received some life-changing news. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, and it had spread to her lymph nodes. She underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and a single mastectomy. Doherty shared her journey with fans through social media, making so many others feel less alone in their cancer battles. Even after her cancer went into remission, Doherty continued sharing her journey openly, most recently by talking about her latest test results.

"Test and results. One tumor marker test came back good. Other... elevated," she wrote in the caption of a selfie, further explaining, "Just means I get monitored and another test."

Doherty explained that the elevated test could have happened for many reasons, some which are minor.

"As I’ve said before, cancer changes your life in ways no one could ever imagine," she wrote. "the elevation can be from all sorts of things. Oh and vitamin D...need more of that too. #stillacancerslayer"

Doherty also noted that she always feels anxious before a screening but that she doesn’t let it stop her from staying positive. The actress announced that she was officially in remission in 2017, but also took care to note that, “Cancer is with you forever.”
