Shannen Doherty gives a cancer update and brings Chelsea Handler to tears in the process

Shannen Doherty is opening up about her cancer journey once again, but this time she brought Chelsea Handler to tears as she told her emotional story.

Doherty, who has been fighting cancer since March 2015, sat down with longtime friend Handler, for her Netflix show Chelsea, and talked all about what her life has been like since she was diagnosed.

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star revealed that cancer is a hard disease to deal with because it has a lot of highs and lows.

"I think what's beautiful and hard and interesting about cancer is that it tears you down and builds you, and tears you down and builds you and it," she explains in the interview clip. "It remakes you so many different times."

Doherty went on to say that her outlook on life has definitely changed after going through this cancer journey. “So the person I thought I was supposed to be or was going to be or who I thought I was six months ago is now somebody completely different,” the 45-year-old actress said.

"And I realize, 'Wow, I really thought that I was so brave and so gracious this entire time and really I was just hiding,'" she continued.

As Doherty was reflecting on her battle with cancer, Handler began tearing up. “Don’t cry! Don’t cry” Doherty said as Handler tried to hold back tears. “Well, I mean alright, hold on a second, f**k,” the talkshow host said tilting back her head to stop them from rolling down her face.

"This was very hard and not humbling, because I've already been humbled by cancer," Doherty continued once Handler was able to refocus. "It was hard in the sense of rethinking sort of who you are and how you come to terms with who are now and accepting it and looking at your husband and thinking like, 'Dude, I'm so sorry.'"

Wow, just when we though Doherty’s story and her poise throughout this process couldn’t get any more empowering and touching, she goes and does this heartfelt interview!

Catch the whole interview with Doherty on an all-new episode of Chelsea, which streams tonight on Netflix.
