Shake Shack is adding another veggie burger to its menu, and here’s when you can get it

If you love Shake Shack but hate the fact that their vegetarian-friendly burger options are seriously lacking, here’s good news. A new Shake Shack veggie burger, called the Veggie Shack, is coming to a menu near you — and you won’t have to wait long to get it.

The new Shake Shack veggie burger will feature a vegan patty made with black beans, brown rice, and roasted beets. The fixings include provolone cheese, lettuce, onions, and pickles, plus vegan mustard and mayo, and will be served on a potato roll. Per usual, the burger can also be ordered in a lettuce wrap or a gluten-free bun.

This will be a very welcome addition to the menu for vegetarians whose only option was the the ‘Shroom Burger for the longest time. Not saying that the fried portobello mushroom burger isn’t amazing, but people need their options. According to Forbes, Shake Shack reps stress that the new Veggie Shack isn’t meant to replace the ‘Shroom Burger, but to give people a lighter veggie option.

So when will the Shake Shack veggie burger be available?

The burger will be available on Thursday, April 19th in select locations, including in New York (Midtown East, Upper East Side, Astor Place), in Los Angeles (West Hollywood and Glendale), and in Austin (The Domain).

But there is a catch.

According to Forbes, through April 23rd, the Veggie Shack will be an “app exclusive” option. So that means you can only order the burger via the Shake App before April 24th, when it officially becomes part of the menu. Although Shake Shack says it’s just “testing” out the new option, it hasn’t yet given a specific end date for the new veggie burger.

The restaurant is known for having some delicious shakes, which can get pretty heavy if you order one in addition to a regular burger. Meaning even if you’re not a vegetarian, it’s good to know there’s another, lighter burger option available.
