Shailene Woodley has a super-sweet take on what love really means

Shailene Woodley, our earthy goddess and spiritual moonchild who you might know from The Fault in Our Stars or the Insurgent movies, said some really awesome things about love in an interview with Elle. While girl made headlines about her atypical uses for clay and her quirky relationship with trees, this conversation on romance and compassion actually feels pretty universal. Most of all, it shows what a loving person she is.

“I’m all-loving,” Woodley tells Elle. “I fall in love with people based on who they are.”

Woodley suggests what love REALLY is —it’s treating others with compassion and understanding. But here’s how she puts it in her own awesome words:

We feel you, Shailene. And we agree —we should all try to be compassionate and empathetic and show kindness for others. And if the people we love are being jerks, maybe they’re just going through something, and we should always try and support them.

Oh, Shailene. You strange, wise, wonderful woodland fairy guru.
